Literary encounters
Immerse yourself in the universe of Borges: a literary and bilingual (Spanish-French) journey through the 20th century, his stories, his ideas and their resonance.
In collaboration with the Maison Rousseau et Littérature and the Spanish Unit of the Faculty of Arts at UNIGE, we invite you to the 10 Literary Encounters ‘Borges and the 20th Century’ which will take place every Wednesday and will be open to the general public. This weekly bilingual event will offer an overview of the most important stories by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, always relating them to the history of the 20th century. We will discuss formative moments that are reflected in his literature. We will learn about the intellectual world in which the author moved, his friendships, controversies and collaborations. Participants will learn to distinguish between biographical, structuralist and feminist readings. The analysis of Borges’ poetry will also be included, as well as his interest in tango.
Led by Professor Catarina von Wedemeyer.
