BORGES COLLECTION

Meeting with Alejandro Vaccaro, Alejandro Roemmers and Roberto Alifano

Saturday, June 13, 2026 – 6:00 PM

Maison Rousseau et Littérature (Grand Rue 40 – Old Town)

The life of Jorge Luis Borges has left traces of all kinds over the years. Some of them are objects that have acquired the status of secret relics; others are metonymic extensions of the writer, easily recognizable throughout the world. The passion for tracing and rescuing from time this meticulous and scattered legacy is an exercise in philosophical redemption, as Walter Benjamin believed.

Every collection condenses a thousand and one stories: that of the very concept of collecting, that of each of its constituent elements, that of the collector, and that of the adventures of its search. During this roundtable, writer Alejandro Vaccaro (Borges’s biographer) and Argentine poets Alejandro Roemmers and Roberto Alifano will share the most significant accounts of their research, their most treasured objects, and the personal bond each of them maintains with the immortal author.

A small selection from the “Borges Collection” of Roemmers–Vaccaro will be exhibited.
