The Association

Los conjurados (in English, The conspirators) is a non-profit civil association founded in Geneva (Switzerland) on June 14, 2023.

Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most interesting and influential writers of the 20th century on a global scale in different fields of culture. Geneva is, since its origin, a continuous source of culture that feeds the world. We, the conjured ones, work to make known the intimate union of these two phenomena.

Our aim is that Borges should have in the city he loved and in which his remains rest a living and constant presence in the local literary and cultural scene, as is the case with other writers and artists of this dimension (Mozart in Vienna, Kafka in Prague, Van Gogh in Amsterdam, etc.).

We have adopted as the name of the association the title of the last book and the last poem that Borges published in 1985, which he dedicated to Switzerland. There can be nothing more accurate for our purpose, which is to take his legacy right where he left it.

We are the plotters, and in the center of Europe we are conspiring.

Mission, Vision and Values

Our main mission is to promote and disseminate the work, life and figure of the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges through artistic, academic, editorial, touristic and cultural activities in general.
Secondly, to consolidate and strengthen the link between the city of Geneva and the Argentine author, and to strengthen the cultural ties between Switzerland and Argentina.
Likewise, to promote Spanish-American literature and culture as a whole, and each of its particular expressions.
Finally, to cultivate the associative vocation and the exchange of experiences, knowledge and tangible and intangible goods with state and international organisms, organizations, institutions, libraries, museums, cultural and study centers, universities and publishing houses from all over the world that are related to our main mission.

Vision
We aspire to be the reference organization on Borges both in the city of Geneva and in the Swiss Confederation; not only in literary matters, but also in artistic, academic and touristic ones.

Values

  • Literary fraternity, intellectual curiosity and cultural interest.
  • High quality activities and services
  • Associative spirit and exchange with other institutions.
